Research Software and Open Science

Welcome! These are the training materials for the URSSI schools on research software and open science. They contain modular content developed by a number of contributors to support the US Research Software Sustainability Institute (URSSI), and have been delivered at URSSI Winter and Summer Schools, which typically operate as three-day in-person workshops.

The materials are written as Quarto documents that render from a single source into both a web page for self-paced study and a reveal.js slide deck for presenting. On each module page, use the “Other Formats → RevealJS” link in the margin to open the slides.

Modules

Listed in the order they were delivered at the June 2026 summer school:

Each module is self-contained: all code examples are inlined in the slides, so nothing needs to be cloned or installed to follow along.
